Bernie Schwartz is a U.S. Air Force veteran and author, born on August 25, 1969, in Newark, Ohio. He served during Desert Shield/Storm, and his experiences in the military, as well as his travels to various countries, have influenced his passion for the United States. After his military service, Bernie attended college with the goal of becoming a teacher. During his studies, he was assigned to write and illustrate a children’s rhyming book, which led him to pursue writing further.

Inspired by this initial project, Bernie went on to write children’s books, with Who Is a Veteran? being one of his notable works. The book was created to help children understand who Veterans are and why they are important, while also offering a tool for educators to teach kids about Veterans. Bernie is currently working on additional books and hopes to publish them soon, continuing his mission of educating young readers.
